Article Processing Charges (APC)

Journal of Bio-Intelligence (JBI)

Transparent Publication Charges

The Journal of Bio-Intelligence (JBI) is committed to transparent, ethical, and sustainable scholarly publishing. To support the editorial and publication activities associated with high-quality open-access publishing, the journal may apply an Article Processing Charge (APC) for manuscripts accepted for publication.

The APC, where applicable, contributes to the operational costs involved in publishing scholarly articles and ensuring their long-term accessibility.

Why an Article Processing Charge?

Open-access publishing allows research to be freely available to readers worldwide without subscription or access fees. The APC helps support essential publishing services, including:

  • Editorial management.
  • Independent peer-review administration.
  • Professional copyediting.
  • Typesetting and article formatting.
  • Assignment of Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs).
  • Online publication.
  • Long-term digital preservation.
  • Metadata preparation and dissemination.
  • Website maintenance and journal operations.

The APC supports publication services only and does not influence editorial decisions.

Editorial Independence

The Journal of Bio-Intelligence maintains complete editorial independence.

Acceptance or rejection of a manuscript is based solely on:

  • Scientific originality.
  • Methodological rigor.
  • Relevance to the journal's scope.
  • Ethical compliance.
  • Contribution to scientific knowledge.

Editorial decisions are made before any publication charge is requested.

The ability or inability of authors to pay an APC is not considered during editorial evaluation.

When Is the APC Payable?

An APC, if applicable, is requested only after a manuscript has successfully completed peer review and has been formally accepted for publication.

No publication fee is required:

  • At the time of manuscript submission.
  • During the editorial assessment.
  • During the peer-review process.

Authors will receive detailed payment instructions only after acceptance.

APC Schedule

The current Article Processing Charges are published by the journal and may be updated periodically to reflect operational requirements.

The applicable APC is the fee in effect on the date the manuscript is accepted for publication.

Any changes to the APC schedule will not affect manuscripts that have already received formal acceptance.

Waivers and Discounts

The Journal of Bio-Intelligence is committed to supporting the global research community.

The journal may consider partial or full APC waivers or discounts under specific circumstances, such as:

  • Authors from low-income or lower-middle-income countries.
  • Researchers with demonstrated financial constraints.
  • Invited articles commissioned by the journal.
  • Special issues approved by the Editorial Board.
  • Other exceptional circumstances evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Requests for waivers should be submitted to the editorial office with appropriate supporting information.

The consideration of a waiver request does not influence editorial decisions.

Payment Process

Following acceptance, the corresponding author will receive:

  • A publication acceptance notification.
  • APC information (if applicable).
  • Payment instructions.
  • Invoice details.
  • Confirmation of payment upon receipt.

Publication proceeds after the completion of all editorial and production requirements.

Accepted Payment Methods

The journal accepts secure payment through approved payment methods as communicated by the editorial office.

Available payment options may include:

  • Bank transfer.
  • Credit or debit card.
  • Institutional payment arrangements.
  • Other secure electronic payment methods approved by the journal.

Detailed payment instructions will accompany the publication invoice.

Institutional and Funding Support

Authors are encouraged to determine whether APC funding is available through:

  • Research grants.
  • Funding agencies.
  • Universities.
  • Research institutes.
  • Libraries.
  • Institutional open-access agreements.

Where permitted, invoices may be issued directly to the supporting institution or funding organization upon request.

Refund Policy

As editorial evaluation, peer review, and production involve substantial professional and administrative work, APC payments are generally non-refundable once publication processing has commenced.

Refund requests arising from exceptional circumstances will be reviewed individually in accordance with the journal's policies and applicable legal requirements.

Taxes

Where required by applicable laws or regulations, taxes may be added to the APC.

Any applicable taxes will be clearly identified on the publication invoice.

Transparency

The Journal of Bio-Intelligence is committed to complete transparency regarding publication charges.

Information relating to APCs, waivers, payment procedures, and publication policies is made publicly available to enable authors to make informed decisions before submission.

No hidden charges are applied.

Any applicable fees will be communicated clearly before payment is requested.
